Earth Hour @ 27 March 2010

Just a short note on this issue. It's pity that it has been an "over abused" term since 2004...

at 8.30 PM for 60 minutes, lights all over the world were switched off and of course Malaysia is included . It's a noble idea actually, just imagine how much energy we managed to conserve in that 60 minutes from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM. We are in "total" (not TOTAL actually)darkness ...

I just hope that in the darkness, we are not losing sight of what had happened to this earth that we "borrowed from our children" .. it had been "raped" and abused over and over again .... Those same buildings - not all though - with the lights off tonight were once the green belt area with hills & catchment areas...

I am not against development but the balance is just not there ... we are prone of doing something or rather "shouting this and that" when there were landslides, worst still when it caused death etc...

Lest I being accused of a pessimist, I still think that it's a good idea. Most important of all is the awareness .... it's the first step rather than just treating this event as a "pesta" for 1 hour without cause.

P/S: I wonder whether the LPPK carry out any survey on the impact of this 1 hour of "total" darkness to our population number ......

Good nite all ....
