For A Better Malaysia II

The past weeks or so, we Malaysians had been fed with so many news - the BENDERA attacks & abuse towards our Embassy in Jakarta, babies being abandoned yet again! and so on...

I would want however to touch on "racism" issues being spread unashamedly in our media. It was alleged that 2 Principals of schools in Johor & Kedah made racist remarks during the assembly and the alleged "tit for tat" by Namewee through his video via You Tube.

All these were preceded by a remark by Dr Chua Soi Lek in his speech at a Chinese Chamber of Commerce event where he was reportedly urged the Government to cease the 30% quota for the Bumiputeras. And voila!!! All hell broke loose and everybody jumped into the bandwagon!!! Dr Chua at the end of the day said he was not making a demand as it was only a speech!!! Very ironic & so convenient....

I am not going to delve further on this but just to register my concern on which direction this beloved nation of us is going to...

Those days when I was in my primary (Standard 5 & 6 @ 1974 & 1975), I was at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Pasir Putih, Ipoh. It was a predominantly a Malay populated school with only 2 Chinese students - 1 boy (Standard 4) and 1 girl (my classmate). I could not remember their names but I used to call the girl as "Ah Moi" or is it "Swee Moi"?

At that school, we used to have sessions where we would learned how to pray and the sessions would be a joint sessions among those from Standards 6, 5 & 4. The prayer sessions would be led by the Head Boy (Standard 6) and the Ustaz would observed and "interfered" whenever we made errors in our prayer...

Those 2 Chinese students were also involved in the congregation with my dear Swee Moi was so elegant & beautiful wearing "telekung". That Chinese boy was always at the front "saf"/line with "songkok" on his head. I could still remember on one ocassion he said to the students besides him to "berdiri rapat-rapat dalm saf - nanti Syaitan masuk!!!" .....

That was the scenario then and I do not recall their parents came to the school complaining!!! Never was there any allegation of an "alien: religion being imposed on them and they could recite Fatihah better than some of us ...

In one of my earlier posting, I posted about my best friend when I was in my Secondary (Form 1 - 3), Cheah Fah Thong the so called "China Murtad" ... There was no qualms & no fist fighting like what was reported recently in KL on the eve on Merdeka Day .....

What have we done - or rather not done - wrong? And I am still puzzled and that's why my Blog is called "Uthopia @ 70" - we would never accomplished the state of Uthopia going by this rate of attitude ....

Till we meet again ....
