Lost and ... Found (?) ... Is it?

Before I proceed with my entry, let's look at the dictionary meaning of "lost" i.e. amongst others "unable to be found or recovered" ... What about "found"? which obviously a past tense of "find" i.e. amongst others "to meet with or discover by chance" or " to discover or obtain esp. by search or effort".

Consider this word, "missing" in the dictionary [Term of reference @ Collins Concise Dictionary Plus @ 1989]means amongst others "not present; absent or lost". the extension of this is the phrase "go missing" which means "to become lost or disappear".

Some of you might be wondering why the sudden interest in the meaning of those words/phrase? well it has everything to do with us & with our society/country ...

Yesterday, it was reported in NST/STAR that the handcuff used in Kugan's case (when he was detained) could not be found... In other words, it's missing/could not be traced/to become lost or disappear!!! No comment on the case as it is still impending anyway...

My comment/observation on what is reported in the newspaper is this .... I am not surprised at all.

Why? What is a handcuff - so small in size if you, Malaysians would care to compare with the following "missing" incidences - amongst others (this is based on what was reported in the media):

1. Loss of thousands of designer drugs (pil kuda or something) from the Evidence Room. It was only realised/revealed when the Prosecution wanted to adduce them as an evidence/exhibit in Court!;

2. The missing of a jet engine - obviously bigger than a handcuff! [Note: By the way, has it being found? I believe it had been found after much effort & search!!!!]

So the lost of a handcuff is so "insignificant" if compared to the two examples given above. My only sincere hope is that all efforts would be carried out in order to discover the lost of those reported to be missing!!!!

Till we meet again .....
