Baby Hatch - Have We Really Go Down That Low?

It was reported in the newspaper (NST at least) that Dato Sri Sharizat Abdul Jalil shed tears when she launched the 1st Baby Hatch Programme by OrphanCARE... I couldn't blame her for shedding tears as I would most probably be in the same boat ... wondering has our society become so "decay" that we have to launch the said Baby Hatch Programme.

It is set up with the main intention of discouraging/avoiding from newly born (& unwanted) babies being abandoned at improper, isolated places where the chances of the babies surviving would be low. This is a direct response to the recent abundance incidences of newly born babies being abandoned all over the country.

As at to date, there were pros and contras views on the said programme. Those who opposed such a programme argue that "it is ridiculous & absurd as it may being interpreted as condoning to the act of abandoning the babies itself and of course condoning/encouraging sexual relationship out of wedlock and so on ... "

I am not going to be a moral guardian on this issue but to state that the cases of newly born (& unwanted)abandoned babies for the last 5 months - at least - are very alarming. It is such a pity sight.... and not to mention the anger every time we read/hear such news over the media... At least, the programme could solve the issue at hand and ensure those babies are safe & sound ... That's my view but it's a conditional view ....

Conditional as we, Malaysians should:

1. Ensure that there would be no more Baby Hatch to be set up elsewhere after this;

2. In relation to 1, we have to ensure no more babies being abandoned in the future;

3. To ensure 1 & 2, let us - Malaysians - ensure we instill and inculcate good moral values to ourselves & our children.

Unless and until we do the above, there would be more & more Baby Hatches being set up and each one of them would bring tears in our eyes as it would confirmed the state of decay of our society .... It would only confirmed that we have gone so low in our humane feelings/emotion...

Till we meet again .....
