NST @ Saturday 23 July 2011 picked up news from "Agencies" pertaining to the Oslo bombing in Norway and the shooting spree incident at Utoeya Island also in Norway. The powerful bomb rocked government and media buildings in Norway's capital where 2 were reportedly died.
What intrigue me most is how the western media was so quick in pointing the fingers at the so called Islamic extremism as the possible culprit in the bombing ... So it is mandatory to mention al Qaeda, Afghanistan and so on ....
When the dust had settled down, it was reported on Sunday @ 24 July 2011 by almost all newspapers that both the bombing and the shooting had nothing to do with Islamic extremism - though there's no such thing in Islam - but allegedly committed by a lone right wing Christian extremist named Anders Behring Brelvik. The shooting spree left 91 youths dead...
My point here is it's not about Muslims or Christians or any religions for that matter. All religions promote peace and good deeds... This is all about terrorism/extremism and it could be embraced by any lunatic human being with no "religion at heart"...
As usual, the western media & establishments (read as "governments") will waste no time in blaming the Muslims ... This was the trend since late 1970s especially after the Iran revolution and after the Cold war and the last bastion of Communism, the Soviet Union fell apart (except for China of course).
It was said that the West (read as the "United States")have to find "new enemies" after the fall of Communism and Islam became the next "taboo" for the States in the name of "Iranian Revolution"....
I am not going to go further on the West/Islam 'love & hate" relationship as I am not a person who has the credential in international relations/politics study.
However, what I can say in a firm belief is that terrorism/extremism has no religion and it also has no boundaries. Most importantly it has no face!!! Therefore, to link terrorism/extremism to any religion or belief is to me a deliberate insult to humans intelligence!!!
The Oslo bombing and the shooting incident at Utoeya Island in Norway in a way are reminiscent of the Oklahoma bombing years ago due to its similarities. Back then, the States were very quick in pointing fingers to Islamic Militants and wart not. However, it was revealed later that it was the work of a right wing persona ....
Remember this extremism/terrorism is faceless ......
